ISS: 20 years – flight parameters nominal!

November 20, 2018

November 20 is inscribed in the history of mankind’s exploration of outer space by a separate, very capacious chapter. It was on this day in 1998 that the Proton-K launch vehicle lifted off from Baikonur and inserted the Zarya module into orbit. It set the beginning of the International Space Station construction.

Today, the ISS is a huge laboratory where cosmonauts and astronauts conduct scientific experiments. For 20 years, over 200 cosmonauts and astronauts from 18 countries have been here.

From the first days of its existence, Glavkosmos has been taking an active part in international programs of human cosmonautics. The flights of astronauts from Syria, Bulgaria, Afghanistan, France, and commercial flights of the astronauts of Japan, Great Britain and Austria were carried out under the supervision of the company’s specialists.

Today, Roscosmos State Space Corporation, together with other enterprises of the rocket and space industry, is working to increase the presence of the private sector on the ISS and to increase its economic efficiency.

Glavkosmos, as a company within Roscosmos State Corporation, which promotes goods and services of the Russian rocket and space industry, is also directly involved in this process.
